“Gatzolaki” opens the curtain: The heart of Amateur Theatre beats again this year in Evros, in the northernmost and youngest city of Greece, Nea Orestiada, during the 26th Panhellenic Amateur Theatre Festival of Nea Orestiada.
“Gatzolaki” once again opens the curtain for the 26th Panhellenic Amateur Theatre Festival of Nea Orestiada and welcomes us to a ten-day program full of excitement. From August 22 to 31, amateurs from all over Greece and even London gather at the country’s largest celebration of Amateur Theatre, in Nea Orestiada.
During the official opening ceremony on Saturday, August 23, there will be a Tribute to the Honored Personality, the popular actress Yro Mane. With consistency and carefully considered steps, the talented actress leaves her mark on every performance, whether theatrical, television, or cinematic. For the unique artistic value of the beloved actress, her close collaborator Spyros Bibilas will speak.
This year, the Festival Jury consists, as always, of personalities with deep knowledge of theatrical art and a special love for amateur creation, ensuring an impartial and merit-based competition process. This year, the Jury members (alphabetically) are: Rubini Vasilakopoulou, Antigoni Glykofridi, Antonis Theodorakopoulos, Kostas Kazakas, Tasos Kostis, and choreographer Ioannis Margaronis. The Festival has been presented continuously since 2004 by the exceptional Alexis Kostalas.
